Vango

At Vango we are exceedingly proud of our heritage and the relationship we have with our customers. It means that every product we create is packed full of experience, reliability, quality, innovation, design and usability.

We take great pride in our research and development as this is what ensures our evolving range of tents, sleeping bags, rucsacs, accessories and furniture year after year. This allows us to not only meet but also exceed the expectations of our existing loyal customers and catch the eye of those who have never experienced the outdoors or camping before.

Our 2011 collection raises the bar for innovation and development even further and we hope you’ll find our range more exciting than ever.

2011 – Introduction of AirBeam
Vango will be introducing the AirBeamTM range. Innovative, exciting and set to revolutionise the UK camping market, this range of tents is going to be one of the most talked about collections on campsites and camping forums. Keep checking back for the latest news.

2010 – Introduction of our Eco Range of tents.
Four tents make up the Vango Eco Collection. Each is made from recycled components where possible. Where quality would have been compromised, we have not used recycled materials which will prolong the life of your tent making it an even more environmentally sound proposition.

2010 – Tied Arch System
If you are looking for simple, quick to pitch tents with good usable inner space and headroom, look towards the Kairos collection. The Tied Arch System uses a combination of steel central poles with fibreglass arches to give the best combination of headroom, easy pitching and footprint. Each of these tents can be pitched in around 5 minutes (with practice). Look at the pitching DVD to see just how simple pitching a TAS tent can be.

2010 – Thermal Embrace System
Award winning sleeping bag collection, Supernova and our down-filled Viper sleeping bags  use this technology.  Elasticated thread is sewn into the sleeping bag lining, gently pulling the liner towards your body while retaining freedom of movement. As the lining is encouraged towards you, it increases the loft between the inner and outer layers resulting in greater insulation and more warmth.

2008 – Pelmet
An aesthetic addition which helps to creates a home from home feeling inside your tent. The arch of the pelmet hides the inner attachment points from view.

2008 – Flat Pole Sleeves
Tents which pitch inner first tend to be more streamlined while flysheet first tents can be pitched as-one. By flattening the pole sleeves onto the flysheet the best points of both constructions can be included.

2007 – TLS - Thermic Loft System
Classic synthetic insulation and a new interlocked lattice construction are combined to create one of our most advanced sleeping bag constructions yet.

2006 – TBS II - Versatile Tension Band System
Another version of our TBS system which now combines the cord and web together to provide more head room as well as stability.

2004 – TBS PRO – Lightweight Tension Band System
A version of our tried & trusted TBS system that utilises a cord system instead of webbing to stabilise tents.

2002 – ASC2/ASC3 - Advanced Shingle Construction Sleeping Bag Construction
Here, a double/triple strata of overlapping layers in combination with some of the most advanced synthetic materials available to create a thermal system which retains generated heat more effectively.

1997 – Omega® Sleeping bag construction
This shape of sleeping bag 'hugs' the body & is engineered to give more heat retention by moving the zips or seams to the bottom of the bag, thus reducing possible loss of heat.

1996 – Protex™
Vango launch their own branded waterproof/breathable coated fabrics. These are premium PU coated fabric with varied Hydrostatic Head, giving increased insurance against water penetration.

1995 – Bi-Radial Back System®
Vango also led the rucsac market with the introduction of the innovative Bi-Radial adjustable back system, continuing the success of the Quick-Adjust and Self-Adjust back systems.

1993 – Tension Band System®
Vango's market dominating position in the tent market was further strengthened with the introduction of the innovative Tension Band System (TBS) wind stabilisation mechanism for hoop tents.

1987/8 – Tension Membrane System
Vango introduced the original Hurricane with Tension Membrane System.

1967 – Hytex Fabric™
Suitable tent fabrics simply did not exist, so Vango developed their own Hytex range of cotton and synthetic fibres.

1967 – Introduction of the ‘A’ Pole
Vango introduced the ‘A’ pole as an integral part of a tent. It was easier to erect, easier to get in and out and provided greater stability. Prior to this, ridge tents had used upright poles to hold them up with the option of an ‘A’ pole; however this proved to be expensive and was less stable.

1967 – Flysheet

Continental tents did not take into account that it sometimes rains in Britain and had therefore very little covered area for cooking and storage in wet weather. Vango Force Tens solved this with bell ends and a flysheet that came down to the ground.
